Chief Revenue Officer- Professional Sports Organization
About the Team:
Our client is a highly-respected sports and entertainment investment company which has majority ownership and operating rights to multiple leading professional teams, across sports and leagues. Position Overview:
The Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) is responsible for driving revenue growth and overseeing all revenue-generating activities within a professional sports organization. This includes strategizing and implementing sales initiatives for ticket sales, sponsorships, merchandising, and other revenue streams. The CRO will collaborate closely with marketing, operations, and executive leadership to develop and execute innovative strategies that enhance fan engagement and maximize profitability.

Key Role Expectations:
- Research & Analysis: Stay ahead of industry trends, analyzing market dynamics to inform pricing and positioning strategies. Conduct competitive analysis to benchmark revenue performance against peers in the industry.
- Revenue Strategy Development: Create and implement a strategic plan to achieve revenue objectives. - Identify new revenue opportunities and streamline existing channels.
- Leadership and Management: Lead and mentor the sales and marketing teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. - Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and performance excellence.
- Sales Optimization: Oversee ticket sales initiatives, including season tickets, group sales, and premium seating. - Establish a robust sponsorship program, negotiating deals that enhance the team’s financial standing.
- Brand Development: Collaborate with marketing to enhance brand visibility and fan engagement. - Leverage digital platforms and social media to increase reach and engagement.
- Partnership Management: Cultivate strong relationships with corporate partners, sponsors, and key stakeholders. Ensure that all partnership agreements and contracts are executed effectively.
- Financial Performance: Monitor and report on revenue performance metrics, providing insights to the executive team. Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect revenue streams.
Skills & Experience You Will Bring:
- Industry experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in revenue generation, sales, or marketing, preferably in professional sports or entertainment.
- Proven Seller: Strong track record of driving revenue growth and achieving business objectives.
- Leadership: Ability to inspire and motivate teams. Has excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Data-driven mindset: Has strong analytical skills to measure and report on performance metrics.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sports Management, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Passion: for sports and deep understanding of the industry landscape.
- Athlete mindset: Goal oriented. Multi-task in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work solo or within a team atmosphere. Favorable, previous experience competing.
Location & Physical Requirements:
- Midwest Region
- This role primarily takes place in an office setting
- Occasional domestic and international travel required
